CENTRAL OHIO (WCMH) — May is National Hamburger Month, and there’s no better way to celebrate than with a nice, juicy burger from one of the best burger joints in central Ohio.

Whether you like to dress it up with gourmet toppings or prefer a simple classic, central Ohio restaurants deliver when it comes to great burgers. I asked NBC4 viewers what their favorite locally owned burger joints in central Ohio are, and here’s what they said:

Lu Lu’s Kitchen

Located in Bucyrus, Lu Lu’s kitchen is the hands-down favorite burger joint among NBC4 viewers. Customers say the portions are huge and the staff is friendly and accommodating. One diner even said that a simple patty melt went above and beyond his expectations.

Beast and Bottle

Yes, Waverly is quite the hike for most of us, but our viewers in south central Ohio cannot get enough of Beast and Bottle’s burgers. This barbecue joint opened its doors just last year and they’re already making a name for themselves. Viewers recommend the beast burger (two 3-ounce smash patties topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, American cheese and their signature Beast Sauce) for just $7.

The Local Pub & Grille

How does an amazing burger that costs less than what you’d order at major national chains sound? The Local Pub & Grill, located in Newark, has just what you’re looking for. Viewers recommend the Lil Texas.

The Half Pint

With three locations in the Columbus metro, you’re never far from a great burger at The Half Pint, but viewers say the dining experience at the flagship location in Marysville is the best. The restaurant opened its doors in 2016 and has quickly become an area favorite. Viewers love the PBB&J: a perfectly cooked burger topped with  Monterrey Jack cheese, candied bacon, salted peanut butter, strawberry preserves and strawberry slices served with your choice of side for $12.

Opa Grill and Tavern

Located in historic downtown Delaware, Opa is better known for their gyros and bourbon selection (seriously, if you’re a bourbon connoisseur, you need to check it out), but their burgers are out of this world. Try the Greek burger (8 ounces of gyro meat topped with spinach, onion and tzatziki sauce).

Honorable Mentions:

Main Street Market & Deli – Marengo

Bummie’s Grub & Pub – Newark

Courtyard Grub & Pub – Marion

Grove City Brewing Company – Grove City

Restoration Brew Worx – Delaware
