TEGNA to purchase WBNS, radio stations from Dispatch Broadcast Group

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — TEGNA announced Tuesday it was buying WBNS-TV from the Dispatch Broadcast Group.  

According to an announcement from TEGNA, the company has agreed to purchase WBNS, as well as radio stations 1460AM and 97.1FM here in the Columbus market.  

TEGNA has also agreed to purchase WTHR in Indianapolis.  

The deal is worth $535 million in cash. 

TEGNA currently has 49 television stations and two radio stations in 41 markets across the country.
