YOUNGSTOWN, OH (WKBN) – The Youngstown Police Department said they found a stolen pistol after receiving a call from a child saying their father was sleeping on the couch with a gun.

Police said they went to the home on on the 900 block of Plazaview Cr. on Friday afternoon.

They said they spoke with Carlos Poellnitz, 35, who told them his children were upstairs. After getting permission to search the home, they found a 9 m.m. Highpoint Pistol on the couch in the living room.

The gun was loaded with one round in the chamber.

Poellnitz told police he didn’t know where the gun came from and officers say after running the serial number for the gun, they found out it was stolen.

Poellnitz was then arrested for child endangerment and receiving stolen property.

Police said they spoke with the three kids who all told them their dad was sleeping next to the gun and he stores it in a gun safe next to the couch.

The three kids are with a family member.
