Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers in northeast Ohio have arrested a prisoner who escaped at an interstate rest stop while he was being moved by a private inmate transport company.

The Ashland Post arrested Said Ali El-Khatib without incident.

He was found walking near Interstate 71 and U.S. 250.

He will be booked into the Ashland County jail.

Said Ali El-Khatib escaped on Friday when Affordable Extradition Service was transporting him from the New York Police Department to the Allen County Sheriff in Indiana.

The patrol says the prisoner escaped after asking to use the restroom at the stop along the southbound lanes of I-71.

The patrol says the inmate was handcuffed, had shackles around his waist and an ankle, and is violent.
