The Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District on Wednesday issued an advisory that a combined sewer overflow occurred at Edgewater Beach Tuesday night.

The overflow discharged 142,600 gallons of a combination of raw sewage and stormwater into Lake Erie, meaning beach goers should avoid contact with the water, according to WKYC.

Water quality conditions for Edgewater and Villa Angela beaches was deemed “poor” Wednesday due to potentially harmful bacteria that poses a risk of E.coli to swimmers.
