One man is dead after an incident at the Ashland BalloonFest Friday night.

According to Ashland BalloonFest organizers, the incident happened after a balloon landed at the festival. The pilot was taken to an area hospital where he later passed away.

Ashland BalloonFest president Mindi Cantrell told NBC affiliate WKYC that the pilot hit his head on the burners during the disassembly of the hot air balloon. Organizers say the festival’s competition flight scheduled for Saturday morning has been canceled.
