OSP trooper suffers severe injuries after being hit by car

BEAVERCREEK TWP., GREENE COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) – An OSP Trooper was hit by a car at a crash scene Friday morning.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Trooper Paul Coates was hit while directing traffic at the intersection of U.S. 35 and Orchard Lane following a crash on US-35 near North Valley Road. Coates was it by a 24-year-old man driving a 2011 BMW in the westbound lanes.

Coates was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with “severe but non-life-threatening” injuries. This incident remains under investigation. OSP did not say whether the 24-year-old driver that struck Coates has been cited.
