OSHP Troopers seize 100 pounds of marijuana during traffic stop

MAUMEE, OH (WCMH) — A traffic stop in Lucas County led to the seizure of 100 pounds of marijuana.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, at about 8:20am, Thursday, troopers stopped at 2010 Ford Flex with California plates for a speed violation on I-80 in Lucas County.

Troopers say during the interaction with the driver, an odor of raw marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle.

A probable cause search was conducted on the vehicle where 100 pounds of marijuana, valued at approximately $450,000, was seized.  

The driver, Artin Geshishyan Khoygani, 32, of Montrose, California, was arrested and charged with possession and trafficking in marijuana, both second-degree felonies. 

If convicted, Khoygani faces up to 16 years in prison and up to a $30,000 fine.
