Kings Island is bringing back antique cars in 2019

State News

MASON, OH (WLWT) — Antique cars are making a comeback at Kings Island, park officials announced Thursday.

It was one of the park’s most beloved attractions, open at the park from 1972 to 2004.

Thursday, Aug. 16, marked the 14th anniversary of the closure of the antique cars attraction at the Mason, Ohio, theme park. On the anniversary of the cars leaving, officials said that the cars will be returning in the spring of 2019.

It will be called the Kings Mills Antique Autos, and guests will board replica classic touring cars and take a leisurely drive around a scenic track.

The track is equipped with a small rail to keep the car on the path.

The ride will be comparable to the original Les Taxis antique car ride, combining nostalgia with new enhancements.

The new ride will be located in Coney Mall, across from the Juke Box Café and alongside The Racer roller coaster.

The ride will be a quarter mile in length and last approximately three minutes. The cars are 2/3 scale replicas of the 1911 Ford Model T; though new, they will retain the vintage feel of the original Les Taxis.

An exact opening date has not been announced.
