Former Ohio school maintenance foreman allegedly stole barn from school

State News

STRONGSVILLE, OH (WCMH) — A former school maintenance foreman in Ohio is accused of stealing $65,000 worth of items purchased with district funds, including a barn.

Robert Schweman, 49, worked for the Strongsville City School District.

Authorities said the alleged thefts started back in 2013.

They say Schwerman stole a John Deere utility vehicle, lawn mower, and the small barn – which was later found in his yard.

“It would be delivered, in many instances, to the Strongsville City District maintenance garage, at which point he would pick them up and bring them home,” said Cuyahoga County prosecutor Mike O’Malley.

Others items recovered during a search include a generator, snow plow, furnace, and water heater.

Schwerman is facing felon charges of theft in office and tampering with evidence.
