NEW CARLISLE, Ohio – A small plane crashed near an airport in New Carlisle early Sunday injuring the pilot and two passengers.

The crash occurred around 7 a.m. in the area of Studebaker Nursery, along Milton Carlisle Road, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Springfield Post.

A father and his 15-year-old son and another male passenger were taken to the hospital after the crash, according to Bethel Township Fire Chief Jacob King.

They sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The crash happened shortly after the plane took off from the Andy Barnahrt Memorial Hospital, King said.

King said the teen passenger told him that the plane’s engine had failed.

The FAA is investigating to determine the cause of the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol and Bethel Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.
