Crane worker stranded 300 feet in the air rescued

A crane operator in Cincinnati had to call 911 for rescue after his arm was partially severed in an accident nearly 300 feet up in the air.

It happened around 12:30 p.m. at a construction site on the Children’s Hospital’s campus. The site is in the 200 block of Erkenbrecher Avenue.

A fire official says the crane operator made the call after a cable sliced underneath his arm Friday.

Crews launched a massive rescue effort, lifting supplies 300 feet into the air. A tourniquet was quickly applied and first aid was administered.

Emergency crews were able to quickly lower the victim to the ground and take him to an area hospital. He’s listed in stable condition.

Cincinnati firefighters say the crane worker nearly lost his arm in a cable accident.

The victim, believed to be in his mid- to late 20s, suffered a severe arm injury, officials said. His arm was three-quarters of the way amputated, officials at the scene said.

Authorities say the man lost a lot of blood but was conscious and alert when he was brought down.
