State News

SULLIVAN, IN (CNN) — A slain officer’s son in Indiana got a big show of support on his first day back to school since he lost his dad.

Seventy Terre Haute Police Officers and Vigo County Sheriff’s Deputies waited for 5-year-old Dakota Pitts when he arrived at school.

He wore his father’s badge and was presented a SWAT shirt.

Officer Rob Pitts was killed last week in a shootout during a three-hour standoff.

He was 45 years old.
