Six of the best thrift stores in central Ohio


National Thrift Store Day is Friday, and there’s no better way to celebrate than with some old-fashioned thrifting at central Ohio’s best second-hand stores. 

Whether you’re a parent looking for kid’s clothing and toys or a young professional on a budget, there are a ton of great discount shopping options right here in central Ohio. I asked NBC4 viewers what their favorite thrift stores are, and here’s what they said: 

Volunteers of America

With six locations throughout the NBC4 viewing area, you’re never far from a Volunteers of America thrift store. Each and every purchase made at VOA shops help support programs that provide housing and assistance for the homeless, families and veterans in Ohio. On Friday, Aug. 17, central Ohio VOA stores are celebrating National Thrift Store Day with 50% discount all items in store.  NBC4 viewers love the locations in Grove City, on Indianola Avenue and on West Broad Street.


With more than 3,300 stores across the United States, Goodwill is as ubiquitous as they come for thrift stores. From clothing for adults and kids to home furnishings and toys, you’re likely to snag a great find you didn’t even know you were looking for. NBC4 viewers recommend the Goodwill locations in Hilliard, Delaware, Loudonville and Gahanna.

Country Closet

Located in Plain City, Country Closet is one of the best-kept thrift store secrets in central Ohio. Customers say every item they’ve purchased has been in great condition and at a great price point. Customers also rave about the friendly customer service and the cleanliness of the store.

Cradle 2 College

If you have kids or are a college student tight on cash, visiting Cradle 2 College is a must. The store specializes in baby, children’s, teen’s and young adult clothing, as well as toys, baby equipment and much more.

Ohio Thrift

With 10 locations throughout central Ohio, you’re never far from an Ohio Thrift store. The thrift chain carries everything from clothing to electronics to home decor and much more. NBC4 viewers love the locations in Westerville, Upper Arlington and Grove City.

Clothes Mentor

If you’re a woman who needs business casual clothes, make sure to check out Clothes Mentor, the perfect store for the working woman on a budget. The store features gently used, name-brand clothing like Ann Taylor, DKNY, Banana Republic and more, with a focus on work attire.
