Robbery suspect dies after being shot by homeowner

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — A man has died after he was shot during an alleged home invasion in the Linden area.

Columbus police say 24-year-old Samuel A Dozier died Wednesday evening at the hospital, where he was recovering from multiple gunshot wounds sustained in the alleged robbery.

Witnesses told police Dozier broke into a home near East 23rd Avenue and Hamilton Avenue at about 6pm on Dec. 5. A 25-year-old man told police he was defending himself and shot the alleged robber. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police said this is the 96th homicide in Columbus this year. The incident remains under investigation.
