FLORENCE, Ky (WCMH) — Wayfair.com is known for trendy décor.
Before this week, its offerings could only be found online. As of Friday, Feb. 15, the virtual store has become reality. Wait… HUH? The virtual store now has a brick and mortar, steel beamed building.
Where? Where is it? It’s close to home but you’ll have to plan to make a day of it. The storefront is located about two hours south of Columbus along I-71/75 in Florence, Kentucky.
Here you will be able to find items that have been returned to the retailer and can buy them at scratch and dent prices.
“ I actually found it, I found the announcement online,” Craig Randall from Springboro, Ohio.
He stopped by with his wife looking for nothing in particular, “Anything and everything. Treasures,” said Randall.
People piled into the 20,000 square foot outlet store hoping to take advantage of 20-50 percent off of items.
“I’m looking for bargains like everybody else,” said
Lori Rosenberger while testing the comfort of a couch. “I stood in line waiting out in the cold to get in here at 10.”
Right now she needs to buy stuff.
“We had a lightning strike and a house fire back in August,” said Rosenberger. “Basically we need to replace every piece of furniture.”
The Wayfair brand began in 2001 in an apartment. After a branding change in 2011, Wayfair was born. The logo looks like a pinwheel. But, look a little closer and you’ll find it’s actually an open box with the flaps looking like houses.
