DICKSON, TN (WSMV/WCMH) – Several inmates in a Tennessee jail managed to get their hands on a bottle of whiskey Tuesday afternoon and one of them ended up in the hospital.
Officers heard the men being rowdy in their cell and when they went to check, they found an inmate laying in the floor and vomiting.
It was clear the inmates had gotten into one of the officer’s lockers and taken a half a gallon of whiskey.
Police say the hospitalized inmate chugged most of the whiskey all at once.
“When you have prisoners get a hold of possible contraband, there’s a lot of issues there. It could’ve been far more serious than what it was,” Chief Rick Chandler says.
Chandler told WSMV that there are several issues the department is dealing with, including the proper storage of evidence. The police have launched an internal investigation to find out how the prisoners got their hands on the evidence. The inmates in question could be charged with burglary and theft as a result of the incident.What others are clicking on:
