Police identify man shot and killed during east Columbus robbery

COLUMBUS (WCMH) – Authorities are searching this morning for a suspect in a shooting that left one man dead.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, at about 1:18am, Friday, officers were called to the 500 block of S. Napoleon Avenue on the report of a home invasion and shooting.

When officers arrived on scene, they found Kelvin Lee Porter, 54, lying in the driveway suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Porter was taken to Grant Medical Center where he died from his injuries.

Police continue to investigate but say it appears Porter was a victim of a robbery. There is a person of interest in the case, according to police.
