 A large plume of smoke hovered over south Columbus after a fire broke out in a large pile of scrap material in the 2200 block of Parsons Avenue just before 9:00 Sunday morning.

According to fire crews on scene, the material comes from the fabric parts of scrapped cars, such as seats, and carpet. Fire crews believe that the fire was caused by heat generated during decomposition of these materials.The fire was quickly contained, and no injuries were reported.
