One killed in west Columbus shooting

COLUMBUS, OH (WCMH) — One man is dead after a shooting in west Columbus.

According to Columbus Police, officers were dispatched to the 70 block of South Richardson Avenue around 6:26am Sunday. When officers arrived, they found one man unresponsive with multiple gunshot. Medics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Police identified the victim as 27-year-old Devon Durr and say some kind of argument happened outside the home before Durr was shot.

Family and friends gathered around the scene, hand in hand praying.

“He didn’t deserve to die in the street like that,” says Durr’s mother Michelle Wiley. “He was a good father. He took his kids to school every day and he worked. I don’t know why this happened.”

Durr’s girlfriend Latatum Thompson says he is a father of four.

“He’s a good dad, he’s a good man,” she told NBC4. “My kids, they don’t even know, they don’t even know. Like, I don’t even know what to tell them.”

CPD Sergeant Dave Sicilian says Leonard Durham has been identified as a person of interest in the shooting. Durham is believed to be driving a stolen cream-colored Cadillac with the license plate HAK 6137.Keep checking for real-time updates on this story.
