COLUMBUS (WCMH) — One person is in critical condition after being shot by Columbus police officers in the Franklinton area.
It happened around 5:43pm on the initial block of Schultz Avenue in Columbus.
According to Columbus police, the incident started when a woman saw three kids throwing rocks at cars. Police said the kids ran off after the woman confronted them. She went next door to tell her sister what happened.
The sister’s boyfriend then left the house to look for the kids.
Columbus police officers saw the man walking down the street and said he was acting erratically. Officers tried to stop him, but he ignored several police warnings, officers said.
Something then happened that officers perceived as a threat, according to police. The man was then shot by the officers.
A gun was found with the suspect, but investigators aren’t sure if the officers saw the gun before the shooting.
