SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Newly released security video shows a June 1 incident in which a man kicked a dog to death in San Francisco.
Animal Care and Control officials released the footage Thursday of 24-year-old Nicholas Michael Cornelius brutally kicking the small dog against a wall on Market St.
The 3-year-old terrier mix named Puppet died within a day of the incident.
Puppet suffered a fractured skull, and “passed away despite all attempts to save his life,” officials said.
Cornelius is being charged with felony animal cruelty by the San Francisco District Attorney’s office.
Animal Care and Control released the following statement about what hapened:
“We thank the community for their support. The community acts as our eyes and ears, and in this case, the information provided to our agency led to an arrest. Animals deserve our care and compassion,” said District Attorney George Gascón. When someone takes advantage of their vulnerability, we have a responsibility to hold their offenders accountable.”
