LEWIS CENTER, OH (WCMH) — Tuesday, for the first time, we heard the 911 call made before police found the bodies of Todd and Rachel Reutzel.
Todd is the suspect in Rachel’s death, what the Delaware County Sheriff is investigating as a murder suicide.
Todd’s sister Susan told a dispatcher that Todd called her over to his Lewis Center house Sunday afternoon. That’s when she found the couples two girls, a three and five-year-old, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
In the call, Susan Reutzel said she saw her brother Sunday morning because he stayed at her house the night before. Just hours later both Todd and his wife were found dead at a nearby park.
“Where is your brother at?” asked the 911 operator. “I don’t know,” said Susan Reutzel. “Does he have kids as well?” said the operator.
“These are his kids,” said Susan.
That’s part of the 911 call made before police were able to piece together what happened.
“He’s not a danger to anyone but himself,” said Susan.
Tuesday we learned Todd and Rachel were married in 2010 and at one point both worked at the Bricker and Eckler Columbus law firm where Todd was a partner.
It released a statement saying in part, “We are deeply saddened by the sudden death of our colleague Todd Reutzel and his wife Rachel Reutzel, also a former Bricker attorney.”
The next-door neighbor of the couple didn’t want to go on camera. He said his children often played with the Reutzel’s girls.
Other neighbors said it’s tragic and they couldn’t believe it happened in their neighborhood.
We looked into Todd’s past. He has been married before. We did not find any criminal charges against him in central Ohio.
