The main branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library will close during renovations, despite earlier plans for parts of the building to remain open.
Beginning April 12, the main branch on Grant Street will close for the duration of the current renovation project.
Library officials said that they have been seeing lower than expected usage by customers since they shifted to the historic portion of the library.
The expense of keeping the building open to the public during extensive renovations was also cited.
Staff members normally assigned to the branch will be shifted to other locations for the duration of the project.
