Members of the Ohio State Highway Patrol Special Response Team(SRT) apprehended Derek Z. Weaver, 29, shortly before 7am on Saturday, August 18.

Weaver was wanted for causing a fatal crash on U.S. 40 near Brownsville.

Troopers said that on July 31, 2018, Weaver was driving a 1999 Dodge Ram east on US 40. A 2011 Honda Accord driven by 62-year-old Cathie L. Clippinger of Mount Perry was driving west.

Weaver crossed the center line and struck Clippinger’s vehicle head on.

According to investigators, Weaver then ran away from the crash scene.

Clippinger was transported to Genesis Hospital where she later died.

Weaver was found living in a tent near Crooksville, Ohio with his girlfriend who owned the vehicle he was driving at the time of the crash.
