Zanesville man accused of running from scene of deadly crash

BROWNSVILLE, OH (WCMH) — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is looking for a man who troopers say fled the scene of a deadly crash.

According to the patrol, it happened around 2:05pm Tuesday on US 40 west of Brownsville.

Troopers said a 1999 Dodge Ram driven by 29-year-old Zane Weaver of Zanesville was driving east on US 40. A 2011 Honda Accord driven by 62-year-old Cathie L. Clippinger of Mount Perry was driving west.

Weaver crossed the center line and struck Clippinger. According to investigators, Weaver then ran away from the crash scene.

Clippinger was taken to an area hospital where she later died.

The patrol says Weaver has not been located. They believe he could be severely injured.

Derek Zane Weaver is described as a male standing 5’10” and weighing 180 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes.

His last known address is on Gayla Drive in Zanesville.
