COLUMBUS (WCMH)— A special gift for the holidays brightened the spirit of children at Nationwide Children’s Hospital born with a single ventricle heart condition.
It’s known as the Beads of Courage program, and this year Central Ohio Woodturners joined the national program, presenting ornate crafts that were welcomed by the families of the children spending the holiday season in the hospital.
“At the Children’s hospital, the children get a bead for every medical procedure that they go through,” said Greg Drakulich, a Delaware woodturner.
Designs from the hands of the woodworkers are made to fit the delicate hands of children who received lidded boxes made out of wood species.
“When the children saw it, the smile on their faces and the gratitude was just incredible,” said Scott Gordon, Vice President of Central Ohio Woodturners.
