Woman killed in Polaris-area crash

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — One person is dead and two more are in stable condition after a crash on Polaris Parkway Thursday.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, at about 10:15pm, Thursday, Lisa Jones, of Irwin, Pennsylvania, was stopped in a 2007 Mercury Mountaineer in the first left turn from the westbound Polaris Parkway to southbound Lyra Drive.

Sydney Collins, of Fort Worth, Texas, was stopped in a 2005 Lexus GX470 in the second left turn lane from westbound Polaris Parkway to southbound Lyra Drive.

Thelma Dickerson, of Columbus, was operating a 2011 Ford Fusion eastbound on Polaris Parkway towards Lyra Drive when she drove into the westbound side of Polaris Parkway where her vehicle struck the front of the Mercury.

Dickerson’s vehicle continued eastbound where it struck the front of the Lexus, and came to rest.

Dickerson was taken by helicopter to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead.

Two passengers in the Mercury were taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital in stable condition. 

Police continue to investigate the crash.
