Woman dies after being hit by vehicles on I-70 in east Columbus

COLUMBUS (WCMH) – Columbus Police say one woman was killed after being struck by three vehicles on Interstate 70 in east Columbus.

It happened around 12:38am on I-70 west between South James Road and East Livingston Avenue. According to the Columbus Division of Police, the woman, who has not been identified, was lying in the road for an unknown reason. A silver vehicle struck the victim and fled the scene. Investigators say two more vehicles struck the victim. Both of those drivers stopped to call police and help the victim.

When medics arrived, the victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

Officers are still looking for the silver vehicle that fled the scene.

I-70 west was closed for approximately three hours while crews worked to clear the scene. The roadway is open at this time.
