MANSFIELD, OH (WCMH) — A woman is facing charges after police say a ‘very emaciated’ woman was found dead inside a Mansfield home.

According to Mansfield police, officers were called to a home on 2nd Avenue on a report of a deceased person on October 23. Patrol officers called for detectives after seeing the 77-year-old victim.

An autopsy report shows signs of neglect, according to police.

Police arrested 44-year-old Jennifer K. Sweat and charged her with involuntary manslaughter and failing to provide for a functionally impaired person.

“This was a horrific scene that the Officers and Coroner’s office personnel were subjected to, a terrible loss of life to one of our citizens in the Mansfield community” stated Mansfield Police Lt. Robert Skropits
