Westerville middle school instructional aide and coach charged with child pornography

WESTERVILLE, OH (WCMH) -- An instructional aide who coaches at Walnut Springs Middle School was arrested on a child pornography charge, Tuesday.

According to a letter sent home to parents, instructional aide and coach Donte Martin, was taken into custody today as a suspect in sharing online pornography involving minors. 

"Needless to say, this has been a shock to everyone. As this is an ongoing investigation, we do not have many details and will defer to law enforcement officials regarding what information can be shared now and in the future. Counselors are available at the school for anyone who may need additional support. We pledge our continued cooperation during the investigation and will support our students, staff and families as we move forward," said Westerville City Schools spokesperson Greg Viebranz. 

According to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, Martin was arrested at the school. At the same time, a search warrant was executed at his home.

According to Viebranz, Martin was an Instructional Aide at Blendon Middle School during the 2016-17 school year, and an Instructional Aide at Walnut Springs Middle School for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 school years.

Martin coached wrestling and 8th grade football at Walnut Springs during the 2017-18 school year, and he coached 7th grade football at Walnut Springs during the current 2018-19 school year. He also served has an assistant girl's track coach at Blendon Middle School since 2016, says Viebranz.

Martin has been charged with one count of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor.
