COLUMBUS (WCMH) — The average cost of adoption in the United States is $40,000, and without support the cost can be an impassible barrier to becoming a parent.
The good news is there is help available if you know where to look.
That is why Todd and Amy Schulze have started Wesley’s Grace an organization named after their daughter dedicated to raising awareness and funds for adoption.
“There are so many deserving parents out there that just don’t have huge amounts of cash laying around to fund their adoptions” said Amy Schulze “I can’t imagine feeling that helpless and hopeless because of money.”
Todd and Amy suggest talking to other adoptive parents to avoid mistakes that could be expensive.
They also recommend considering a smaller agency to avoid expenses like high marketing fees.
And this weekend there is an opportunity to support families in the adoption process by participating in the first annual Wesley’s Grace 5k.
It is Saturday, Oct. 27, at Glacier Ridge Metro Park. Registration starts at 8am with the 5k starting at 9am.
