Waverly police search for teen stabbing suspect

WAVERLY, OH (WCMH) –According to Chief Larry Roe of the Waverly Police Department, officers responded to a report of a stabbing on Morningside Drive at 2:10am on Thursday, June 7. 

There were two victims at the scene, Brandi Hawthorne Smith, 33, and her 7-year-old daughter. Both were transported to Adena Pike Hospital. The extent of their injuries has not yet been reported.

Waverly Police are searching for the nephew of Smith, 15-year-old Cameron Hawthorne, who is believed to be the suspect.  

Police say that Cameron Hawthorne fled the scene in Smith’s vehicle, a blue 2006 Pontiac four door bearing Ohio plate HIL6055.

Police at this hour are still searching for Cameron Hawthorne. He is 15 years of age, 6 feet tall, 200 lbs, with  brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a maroon shirt with Budweiser on the front and khaki shorts.

According to Waverly Police, Hawthorne should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who comes in contact with the vehicle or has any information is asked to contact Sgt. Tom King at the Waverly Police Department at 740-947-2179 or contact your local law enforcement agency.
