Warning for parents as loot boxes become popular in video games

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Ohio for Responsible Gambling is warning that many popular holiday gifts for children – especially video games featuring loot boxes – might have unintended consequences as youth gaming can lead to a gambling problem later.

Scott Anderson talks to NBC4’s Hattie Hawks about Loot boxes being a common reward tactic and how studies have found that the psychological reaction to loot boxes can mimic what people experience playing a slot machine.
