The environment and Columbus Division of Police agree: warming up your car before you jump in and drive off into your day is a bad idea — and it’s also illegal.
Pollution aside, now that morning temperatures have chilled, CPD reports that surprised car owners have been calling in about their pre-warmed cars being stolen.
“We’ve had a few stolen cars already this morning,” Sgt. Isaac Bridges said on CPD’s social media page.
He reminds people that it’s also “…unlawful to leave vehicles running and unattended.”
But, Sgt. Bridges goes on to observe, “Given the change of seasons we are going to get an uptick in these.
“Don’t allow yourself to become a victim,” he concludes.
