DELAWARE CO., OH (WCMH) — After years of work with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, K9 Lacy is entering retirement.
Lacy, a bloodhound, enjoyed an ice cream treat Sunday with her partner, Deputy Gaines. The sheriff’s office said on Facebook that the 9-year-old is retiring due to hip problems and a heart murmur; she will become a “loving family pet” after her career.
“Lacy’s career accomplishments are many, including being called upon by the FBI 6 times to help with cases throughout the U.S.,” the sheriff’s office wrote on Facebook. “The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations called upon Lacy and Dep. Gaines twice and the dynamic duo didn’t disappoint: in one case their work resulted in locating a serial killer and in the other they helped find a missing child!
“In Delaware County, she helped us solve crimes due to her superior sniffing and tracking talents.”
