COLUMBUS (WCMH) — The Ohio State Fair officials kicks off this week.

On Monday, ride inspections got underway. There will be more than 60 rides this year on the midway, from Ferris wheel to free-fall drops. Also back is the popular SkyGlider and Giant Slide and tons of options for kids at Kiddieland.

The 189 food vendors are also starting their set up for what they’re hoping will be a long, successful fair season. Once again, they’ll be answering the age old question: Can it be fried? That answer is yes for a ton of items like fried butter, fried gummy bears, fried mashed potatoes, fried cheese curds and more.

And don’t worry: All the classic fair foods like corn dogs and funnel cakes will be available in plenty as well.

Also back this year is the infamous butter sculpture, which will be officially unveiled on Tuesday. You’ll also be able to see one of the biggest buckeyes ever made!
