CRAWFORD CO., OH (WCMH) — The Bucyrus Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a traffic crash that left two women dead in Crawford County.

The Patrol says the crash happened at approximately 7:19am Wednesday at the intersection of State Route 103 and Ross Road in Lykens Township, Crawford County.

Troopers report a man was driving a 1998 Freightliner dump truck westbound on S.R. 103 when he struck a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer that was northbound on Ross Road. The Trailblazer failed to yield to a stop sign at the intersection of S.R. 103, according to the Patrol.

Troopers arrived and found the Trailblazer partially pinned under the truck, with both occupants trapped.

The driver of the Trailblazer, 43-year-old Tonya S. Laferty of Bucyrus, and her passenger, 40-year-old Kisten L. Singer, of Bucyrus, were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Crawford County Coroner’s Office.

The driver of the dump truck was airlifted to Grant Medical Center for “incapacitating injuries.”

Troopers say alcohol or narcotics were not determined to be a factor in the crash; the crash remains under investigation.
