Human remains found in Lancaster home fire after man reported missing

LANCASTER, Ohio (WCMH) — The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office says human remains were found inside a house occupied by a family of four that burned just after 1 a.m. Thursday.

The fire broke out at a home on the 7000 block of Lancaster-Circleville Rd. in Amanda Township.

The discovery came at 7:30 a.m. by the State Fire Marshall and an FCSO deputy after an adult male was reported missing in the fire. A mother and two children were able to escape, and the children were transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.

Investigators are still working to positively identify the human remains.
