Two charged after body of suspected overdose victim found in home

Two people have been charged with abuse of a corpse after a body was found in a duplex in southwestern Franklin County.

The body was found around 6:14pm Monday at a duplex on the 1000 block of South High Street. The victim was found wrapped in a garbage bag during a walkthrough of the building by the landlord.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, there is evidence that the victim died of a drug overdose. Based on body decomposition, the victim may have been in the home for about a month.

Angela M. Nichols, 35 and Andrew Nichols, 32, were arrested and charged with abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.

The Franklin County Coroner is performing the autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The name of the victim has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
