TSA finds loaded gun at security checkpoint at John Glenn Columbus International

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — TSA agents working a checkpoint at John Glenn Columbus International Airport found a loaded handgun in a passenger’s carry-on bag. 

According to a release from John Glenn Columbus International Airport, at about 5am, Tuesday, officers with the TSA detected the Ruger LCP .380 handgun at Checkpoint B, was the man’s carry-on bag passed through the X-ray machine.

Columbus Regional Airport Authority Police responded to the checkpoint for security purposes.

So far this year, there have been 10 firearms found at checkpoints at John Glenn Columbus airport. There were a total of 15 guns found last year. 

According to the release, Passengers are permitted to travel with firearms in checked baggage if they are unloaded, packed in a hard-side case, locked, and packed separately from ammunition. Then the firearm must be taken to the airline check-in counter.
