It was just one week ago that we were outside our studios collecting toys for children in need this holiday season for our Firefighters for Kids Program. We collected thousands of toys and still are!
A big thank you to you our viewers because so far we’ve been able to collect toys for more than 2,800 kids right here in central Ohio.
And the donations keep coming in as Scott Chapin says, “Drop off some toys it’s the Christmas holidays and it’s just something nice to do for the kid.”
Helara Shaw, “Well I love to do this because I don’t have kids I don’t have any family I just want kids to have some fun and every kid needs a toy.”
The Upper Arlington Fire Department was just one of many fire stations that held a toy drive on Saturday to collect for more children and… the cars kept pulling through.
Jon Hamilton, an Upper Arlington Firefighter adds “The program is wonderful the Christmas spirit being able to give to the community the kids the best part is coming in when kids come in with their families and they give us toys for another child it’s priceless.”
The Adunka family came along to drop off toys saying, “I came because kids might not have toys like other people do and then if we give toys away it can make them feel better. I came here to make kids feel better.”
This year we’re collecting toys for ages newborn to twelve and also collecting bicycles. And with your help – on this 41st year of Firefighters for Kids Toy Drive we can help even more kids than years past.
Hamilton,”It’s just the fact that your giving it’s whatever you can give.”
Joveena Vacoupe dropped off toys saying, “Just to give that’s the joy of Christmas is to give.”
If you were not able to make it out on Saturday you can still drop off toys to any Columbus fire station from now until Christmas.
