COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -A local non-profit is teaming up with the Columbus Zoo to give job opportunities to young people in the inner city. Think Make Live youth organizers say the are hundreds of jobs up for grabs. Founder and CEO Terry Green said when kids are busy working or doing other positive things in the community, they are less likely to commit crimes. He says that’s what this collaboration with the zoo is all about.
“Giving them an opportunity to do something positive and not have to sell drugs and not have to go down the negative path to make money,” said Green.
That is Green’s life mission at the moment. His organization empowers young people to be leaders in the community. The partnership with the Columbus Zoo gives people 16-24 years old a chance to work seasonal positions.
“In terms of working the gates. In terms of working at the good service. In terms of working the gates. In terms of working at the food service, greeting people, different types of entry-level positions,” said Green.
