THOMAS COUNTY, GA (WCMH) – Several teenagers are charged with mutilating hundreds of chickens at a Georgia farm.

It happened the weekend of September 21 on a farm in Thomas County, Georgia.

The Thomas County Sheriff’s Office says three 16-year-old boys slaughtered more than 400 chickens. Investigators said the boys were hired by the local farmer to help maintain the chickens and provide extra help when needed.

Instead, investigators say the teens decided to kill the chickens.

“As best as we could tell they were not under the influence of anything, but I’m wondering what goes through their minds to sit there and kill that many chickens,” said investigator Tim Watkins.

The boys have been charged as juveniles with aggravated cruelty to animals and have been released to their parents.
