Officials say no one was injured after a robbery turned into a SWAT standoff late Friday night into early Saturday morning.

Obetz police were called out to the Sunoco gas station at 4425 Alum Creek Drive in Obetz just after 11pm Friday on a report of a robbery.

According to Major Steve Tucker with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, shots were fired after police arrived on scene. Tucker said investigators were still trying to determine who fired the shots as of Saturday morning.

The Columbus police SWAT unit and Franklin County deputies were called out to assist after an officer reported they were in trouble, according to dispatchers.

The male suspect negotiated with police and eventually surrendered to law enforcement just after midnight. He was taken into custody.

No one was injured in the incident, which remains under investigation by Obetz police.
