NEWARK, OH (WCMH) — Newark police say they have arrested the man accused of a deadly shooting last Friday.

According to the Newark Division of Police, at about 11:32pm, Sunday, officers apprehended Glenn Priest, 29, of Johnstown, at a residence in the 8400 block of Papillon Avenue, in Reynoldsburg.

Police responded to the area of 88 Hancock Street in Newark just after 11pm Friday night on a report of multiple gunshots. When officers arrived, they found Jesse Thomas Moffitt, 45, unresponsive with an apparent gunshot wound. Moffitt was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police say Priest struggled with officers while being arrested and they had to use a stun gun on him before he was taken into custody.

Priest is considered a suspect in Moffitt’s murder.

The shooting remains under investigation.
