VIOLET TWP., OH (WCMH) — A state of the art facility allows the Violet Township Fire Department to train with the best available resources.
Their training tower gives them the ability to set up several situations that they will see when called to an emergency.
The Violet Township Fire Department is now able to do all its training at Station 591.
This station opened in May of 2018, as did this training tower that’s hidden within the fire station.
“The whole idea is to keep up with the times and to stay current with the training and technology,” said lieutenant John Cordle of the Violet Township Fire Department.
Firefighters can practice rappelling from third story window, rescuing people and firefighters from confined spaces, and even how to escape through a window.
“We never had anything like this before and if we needed it we had to go to the Ohio Fire Academy or somewhere else,” said Cordle.
This instant training will better prepare these firefighters for the real thing.
“That’s what this place is for,” said Cordle. “We come here; we practice all of the basic techniques, the advancing of the hoses. So when it comes to the actual time to do it, you preform the way you’re supposed to perform.”
This facility will be used by all Violet Township Firefighters.
