Gahanna police are searching for a suspect who allegedly drove a SUV into the front of a business wearing plastic Nixon-like president’s mask.

The front doors were pushed off the hinges and glass along the storefront of Fastenal, 845 Claycraft Road after police were called to the scene at 3:28 a.m. Friday.

After crashing the vehicle into the business, the suspect fell as he got out of the car and ran to the side of the store, grabbed a bunch of tools valued at around $1,500 and took off, according to a Fastenal employee.

There was money in the register and he didn’t take any of it, the employee said.

Based on witnesses, police believe the suspect’s vehicle is either a gold or silver BMW SUV with significant damage, according to Gahanna police.

Police do not have descriptions of the suspects and no arrests have been made.

Police are still working with the business, which  sells tools and construction supplies, to determine what was stolen.

Police say this is the second time this has happened to Fastenal.

Officials say they believe the previous incident occurred last year or in 2017.
