Suspect identified in Upper Arlington deadly shooting

UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio (WCMH) — Police in Upper Arlington are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and another injured Thursday evening.

According to Upper Arlington police, it happened on Colchester Road near Fishinger Road.

According to court documents, the suspect is listed as Kristin C. Roth, 31.

The shooting happened as trick or treating was going on. Neighbors and police rushed to the neighborhood and told kids and their families to stay away.

“They started just swarming the street and it was all lit up,” said neighbor Shelby Cozad.

When Cozad saw the flashing lights outside her home in a usually quiet neighborhood, she first thought it was police having fun with trick or treaters. She quickly realized it was much more serious.

“Bunch of SWAT started rolling by, they blocked off the street and they were just telling everyone to go inside, they were telling little trick or treaters and parents just to stay away from the area,” said Cozad. “It’s concerning because you never really know, I guess, what’s happening anymore.”

“When the call came out we all descended on this location and started taking care of what needed to be done here,” said Upper Arlington Police spokesperson Officer Bryan McKean.
