LEWIS CENTER, OH (WCMH)– Olentangy Orange middle and high schools were placed on a precautionary lockdown after a shooting in a nearby neighborhood.

According to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, a car window was shot out on Whites Court, Thursday morning.

After investigating deputies say they believe an air soft gun or BB gun was used in the shooting to shatter the window.

Olentangy Orange Middle School and Olentangy Orange High School were both placed on a functional lockdown as a precaution. All other schools remain open but deputies will have an extra presence in the area today.

Deputies say the area is safe.
